Peak oil or peak oil theory in general is the point where global oil has reached its maximum production level and begins its decline. It is very important not to confuse peak oil theory with global warming which is a separate issue. Since oil is very important to our economy, it is critical to understand the consequences of reduced oil production and its affects. Most experts agree that oil and other natural resources are limited in quantity and will eventually be depleted, but disagree as to when this will happen.
